Direct your tuk-tuk to Fred Perry Authentic for a slice of Cool Britannia in the Bangkok heat
BY DEE IVA
Designed by London architects BuckleyGrayYeoman, the store features motifs and materials that reflect the wit, street style and humour of British culture, bringing a taste of Blighty to the Thai capital. The fitting rooms sport photographs of English tennis star Perry himself along with images of various youth tribes who have adopted the Fred Perry style. Look up and you'll see a graphic double stripe zipping around the entire store echoing the signature detail seen on shirt collars and sleeves in the collection, while regular users of London's Covent Garden tube station might recognise the zingy, glazed yellow brick tiles which add retro glamour to the mix. We're particularly taken with the cool concrete fins used to pick out the brand's iconic laurel wreath logo in the shop window. Just make sure you leave your takeaway at the door...
