Lighting is like the jeans of the design world – affordable, accessible and always alluring. For exciting new launches at this week's London Design Festival, head to trade show lightjunction at influential exhibition designjunction. Organised with Cameron Peters Fine Lighting and supported by Megaman, it brings together brilliant brands illuminating the basement and parts of the first and second floors of The Sorting Office on New Oxford Street.

lightjunction is at designjunction from 18 to 21 September 2014
OUR TOP TEN MUST-SEE STANDS
Italian lighting brand FontanaArte's new range includes the eclipse-inspired 'Lunaire' wall light by French designer Ferréol Babin. By adjusting the central rod you can change the mood, choosing backlighting when the front disc is pushed back or a seductive internal glow when it is pulled forwards. The label will also showcase sculptural table lamp 'Cheshire' by Danish/Italian duo GamFratesi, plus the pudding bowl-shaped 'Cloche' pendant from its historical archive.
Launched at April's Milan Furniture Fair, Sarah Colson's 'Fibula Lux' lighting collection is about 'finding value and beauty in everyday objects.' Blown glass domes are draped in web-like fabric formed from silver- or brass-finished safety pins, and even the humble cord is given a vibrant makeover.
A beautifully crafted wooden sphere encased in a sheer glass dome, the 'Cloak' pendant lamp is a minimal new creation by East London design group Vitamin, founded by brothers Chris and Andy Vernall. Containing natural oak and walnut globes with LED spotlights, the lights emit a pleasing glow.
MADE BY THE FORGE
Suffolk design firm Made by the Forge specialises in handcrafting bespoke and ready-made wrought-iron pieces. For new range 'Forged Originals', they collaborated with four UK design talents, including Anthony Dickens and Chris Eckersley, to create contemporary lighting drawing on trad, rural skills. Raw yet poised, their metal surfaces bear subtle hammer imprints.
'Empatia', a new table lamp by Artemide, has a spaceage, spiritual feel, thanks to its delicate hand-blown Murano glass shell containing a graphic bar of LED light. Designed by Carlotta de Bevilacqua and Paula Monaco di Arianello, it's one of the new pieces unveiled by the Italian power brand.
